Hoogle Zoo
What good is a trip to Utah without a stop to Hoogle Zoo? Well if you are as big of an animal enthusiast as K-Man it is unimaginable. Our original Zoo date had backed out on us last minute but fortunately my good friend Elizabeth and her adorable 9 month old son Thomas were up for the adventure. Which was awesome, our only regret is that we are not able to catch up with them more often. They are always up to last minute fun!
This was by far the most exciting trip we have yet had. Which also explains the lack of pictures there was no way he would hold still for a minute. K-Man was so excited he could not be contained in a stroller and spent the entire trip running from animal to animal using his finely tuned animal calls. His favorites by the way were the free roaming birds and the gorgeous leopard above, both of which he tried his best to chase. It was so funny to watch the giant cat pace back and forth next to the class and have little K-Man next to him growling and pawing at him through the glass.

Good times with Auntie Itsy
One of the best parts of visiting family is not only catching up with loved ones but watching how your kids interact with with their Aunties and Uncles. Auntie Itsy officially became a member of our family about one month after K-Man was born and boy does he think she's great! It helps that she is always ready to transform into Bumble Bee or color pictures by candle light. She is super fun it is a shame we live so far away!

Look What We Found!
A birds nest complete with a little blue egg!
and a butterfly!
Both of these remarkable creatures were hiding out in my hanging baskets on the same day while I was watering and grooming them. Both K-Man were ex tactic and called the other Phrogbottom women who share our enthusiasm for all things nature. However when we called Glama and asked her to guess what we found she out guessed us. She was hoping we had found alligator or snake eggs. Yikes, we will take a pretty blue egg and butterfly anytime. But what other answer would you expect from a women who freezes interesting bugs in her garage freezer.

What's not to love?
Can you believe this beautiful boy belongs to me? I love him more every second of every day. There are times he is a turkey or grumpy but he is always my little man. Every day his little brain grows and sucks up the world around him like a computer. I love seeing how different the world is in his eyes. Every day is a new adventure. K-Man is now putting together simple puzzles, learning shapes and repeating every thing we say. He has even learned how time out works, which we have had to start implementing since we returned from our recent trip to Utah. Even at his worst K-Man is the best. My mother always said that she never understood how much her mother loved her until she had a baby and it is so true. I hated to see K-Man leaving his infant hood but I love watching him turn into a little boy.
With the recent child abuse case in Utah I have been made hyper sensitive to how much I love my son and how grateful I am for him. I have been reminded that Cookie and I are not only responsibility but a sacred obligation to love, guide and protect him, we are so lucky to have him

Mother's I love: Part Two
I think this picture says it all. My Mom Glama is pretty much the best. She is a champion chocolate chip cookie maker and has legions of fans, namely her children and cute grand babies. She is always up for fun and adventure.
As a child I always loved the time she spent with us reading stories and playing games, even though there were 7 children she made us all feel like we were her favorite. Although I am sure that I am in deed her favorite because she calls me "pussy cat" and trained me to rub her feet at a very early age.
Glama is also very funny, she has a very abstract way of looking at things and when you ask her a direct question she always gives you a indirect and random answer for example: me "Mom have you seen where my shoes are?" Mom:"It drives your Dad crazy having all those shoes kicking around by the door".
She is also a party animal, every Sunday or any other notable occasions like ground hogs day she gathers her family and makes a huge yummy meal. She is also smart and trained her children to be a well oiled machine when in the kitchen. You have never seen anything until you have seen the Davis sisters at work in Glama's kitchen after a huge family meal. I have also heard on good authority that she is also a master at throwing tea parties (the fun kind with fancy hats and boas, not the crazy ones on capital hill).
I also consider Glama to be my best Utah friend. I talk to her several times a week with questions about how to cook, advice on parenting or just to laugh. She has a mermaid soul that I discovered when we picked up my twin brother from NC. She fearlessly ran into the ocean despite the fact that she is not a swimmer. For any of you are lucky enough to experience the ocean with Glama you are in for treat, she jumps and bobs as the ocean surrounds her. So much fun! I love and miss you Mom!

Mothers I love Part One
We are so fortunate in our Polywog family to have two wonderful Mom's that we turn to for love, guidance and emotional support. Today I write about my AMAZING Mother in Law Jo Mama and tomorrow I will post on Glama.
I met Jo Mama 6 years ago this June when I was just "casually" dating Cookie. Immediately she made me feel apart of her loud and crazy family. You might say it was love at first sight. Every Sunday that I went over to Cookies house she was covered in a swarm of Grand babies who adore her (which is still true today). She throws a mean Christmas that was full of tradition and celebration in fact pretty much every get together or party she hosts is full of tradition.
Jo mama also has one of the biggest hearts I have ever met. When we moved to Texas she took me under her wing. She worried and fussed over me, constantly checking and making sure I was adjusting to our new home state. We often linger together after dinner chatting about our day or in deep conversation about a good book. When we got the news that Grandpa BK was being called to serve for our country abroad we were sorry to see him leave but were thrilled to have Jo Mama move in with us. No one can believe that living with their Mother in Law is prime situation but in our life it has been a huge blessing. I refer to Jo Mama as my Texas best friend, she helps with house work, recommends excellent books and when she comes home from work K-Man and the Beans race to the door to greet her and she plays with them until I finish up dinner. When it is time for bed K-Man loves to snuggle up with her in the rocking chair drinking milk while she sweetly sings him lullaby's. Live in Grandmas are the best, Cookie and I are able to sneak off to a late night movie when K-Man is asleep and know that he is in excellent care. One of the most rewarding things about living with Jo Mama has been to see how much she loves our son and in return how much he adores her. We love you Jo Mama and we are so grateful to call you Mom!

Tickled Pink
We are very excited to announce that our newest Polywog is a GIRL!!! She still did her best to maintain her modesty and would keep her legs tightly stretched out and together and took a whole lot of trickery on behalf our OB to get the money shot. This is our second attempt to find out who this little baby was so if this is any indicator for personality we are in for ride, she is a stubborn little turkey!
