I love my wife! I know this is a completely corny way to tell her and others how much I appreciate and love nersey but then again I don't care what others think. This week has been a busy one, I barely have had the time to spend with her. I think it is the pressure of the little "miller muff" on the way, and the desire to put in more hours, but I have truly missed just hanging out with her. She has been sick this week, I think it is a touch of the flu that everyone has been getting, which has made it tough. As I left the house this morning I couldn't help but think how much I appreciate and love her, she makes everyday worth getting up for and I race home to see her or be there when she comes back from doing all the things that she has to do. I am so proud of her, while we weren't planning on having a baby so soon she has really stepped into that courageous spirit of hers that I love. I know she will make a great mommy and that our baby is already blessed to be able to call her "mom". Nersey I love you and appreciate all that you do for Buckley and I. You brighten my life and I didn't think I would ever be so lucky to have you as my wife. I love you! Friday, February 22, 2008

Bring on Spring!!!
I know it is only February 13 but I am so done with snow! In the Salt Lake valley we were fortunate to have 5 incredible sun filled days. My spring fever is out of control all I can think about is sneaking down to southern Utah to beach myself on top of some red rock to burn that sunshine into my soul. Today started well enough, light jacket weather, some wind but now, BUT NOW, there is thick slimmy snow falling! Don't get me wrong snow is wonderful during the holidays and I know that I live in a desert and need snow pack so I can water my flowers and swim in the summer time but really in my horemonal state I started to cry when I was driving to class this afternoon I felt like spring would never come. When I think of my childhood all of my best memories were full of sunshine I cannot recal one blistery stormy day among them. I am ready for good times on the lake, taking naps on hikes, and sitting out side on a lazy summer night.

12 Weeks Down 28 To Go!!!!
Today at the crack of 7:30 Matt and I were off to the doctors office for our first ultrasound! The nurse who preformed our ultra sound was impressed with all the great mug shots and dance moves our little ham was doing for the camera. The little Muff comes by that honestly! As for me I am feeling GOOD, the all day morning sickness is getting less frequent and I am less tired. Pregnancy has so many weird effects on the body and I am sure I have not even begun to see the worst of it. We are lucky that everything is going by swimmingly.

On the hunt for a new lillypad
Saturday afternoon Glama picked up the Cookie Monster and I for a whirl wind tour of the finest condo's Sugarhood and Murray have to offer. After spending the last 8 months practically sitting on top of each other in our gradiose 400 square ft. love shack, we were sooo excited to see what was waiting for us! We hit 6 condo's in 2 hours and there were two very definite maybes and 4 definitly nots. I am open to any thing as long as there is a washer , dryer and a dishwasher not named Nersey. One of the more apealing ones is down stairs from our dear friends The Liz'z but that may not be as attractive to CookieM and to Mr. Liz who would be inheriting unoffical sisterwives. I do love me some Liz. Our friendship started as two lost and stranded soul mates who met in the bitter Siberian waste lands and because of that experience are creeply bonded together. I am not sure CookieM is up for that ....yet.
Everything was in a scary nieghborhood but as Glama points out that builds charactor and service oppurtunities. I'm thinking that maybe we can hold up in the love shack maybe a little longer I am really enjoying my cush Relief Society calling where I only teach once a month. Thanks for taking us out Glama you are the best!!!

The Road to Recovery

I need the winter to pass by. I love snow but I don't like it after January 31st. I don't care what the equinox or punxsutawney phil or anyother groundhog nationwides says winter should/will do. February feels like it should be SPRING. I propose that New Years resolutions fail because there is no good weather to go running, hiking, outdoor swimming or bike riding and hopefully if the coming years go well - horseback riding. I know the reason that mine fail is that I go into survival mode, I don't go out to eat which requires getting dressed-up and a modicum of self-awareness - which equals the need/desire to look better. When Nersey is cooking it is fantastic. But on my own I am contented to order the pie pizza, sit back in my sleeper pants and watch my TV on DVD collections. But let's face it Scrubs is getting old, and there can only be so many surprises in watching Criminal Minds for the third time.
By now you are asking what is the point of all of this. I currently have over half of my wardrobe hanging up in a closet at Glamas and Bampas and I know they are looking forward to me getting it out of there. The big problem is that I am big; I don't fit into any of them - some I have never worn. Now comes the self-fulfilling prophecy part, with President Hinckley's passing (he was so active into old age), Bampas recent diagnosis (i'll avoid it if possible), the biggest loser weighing less than me when he started (i'm over the illusion that "I am not that big"), and looking back to my many trips down chubby snack lane. I am done!!!!
My 10 step process to overcomming fatty-ness, much like if I was addicted to alchohol.
#1 - I know I will not fit into my clothes if I do not change the things I have power to change.
#2 - I know by dwelling on the fat of the past I will be forced to relive it and carry it around.
#3 - I need to feel better about the person I once was and know I can be a Hottie once more.
#4 - My biggest fear is that my kids will think I'm santa or the kool-aide man when I wear red.
#5 - My 24-hour fitness pass will not use itself; I have to get my chubby-butt there to use it.
#6 - I am determined to get rid of my "big and tall" section. (which is mostly big)
#7 - I am determined to see my great grandkids birthday's, even if I don't remember them.
#8 - I am determined never to wear sweats as an Outfit.
#9 - I am determined to buy a King Size Bed as a luxury not a requirement.
#10 - When I die I don't want it to end like "What's eating Gilbert Grape".
And so with this, I am on a personal quest to kick the habits of ice cream, soda, sugar, and a lot of bread. I will order salads and enjoy the comforts of being regular--------ly doing things that benefit me. Without a personal trainer, nutritionist, or any other kind of "-ist" I am determined to lose pounds like crazy. I have a gym pass, a pair of running shoes, great supportive wife, and a little one on the way, and so with that I am going to do it. I will update ya'll with pictures and sucess stories, my goal is to empty bampa and glamma's closet, look and feel great and be happier. Keep in mind I have a competative spirit and would love to have anyone join me.

Talking begets more Talking!
I vaguely remember how it happened, but I know there were two attacks.
The first came Tuesday night with a call from the 2nd counselor in the bishopric. It wasn't long before the call was ended that I had an assignment to talk in church. With the usual urgency that I have written talks, I started this one late on Saturday night and went well into early Sunday morning. Feeling completely tired and uncertain if I wrote to the topic that I had been given, I slinked into bed. Sunday morning and afternoon was the first time I have been to all three hours of church in well over a year, it takes a lot out of you when you hit it all like that, but I was undeterred from giving my talk - which I had been practicing to keep awake during Sunday School. During which the same 2nd counselor called Nersey to be the 4th Sunday Relief-Society teacher. She will do great! Feeling Confident, I gave my talk, and church was done.
The second attack came later that afternoon. Instead of going to glamma's and bampa's for Sunday dinner, nersey went to visit teach as I laid back and watched some playoff action. We had a 4:30 appointment with the Bishop to renew temple recommends, which the bishop forgot about. He kept our appointment time but forgot the reason we had come. I guess when you have been in a ward less than a year, the previous bishop must be called for recommends to be issued. Not having more to talk about the bishop proceeded to tell me that I gave a great talk in Sacrament meeting. I said thank you and was about to get up, when the second attack commenced. The bishop proceeded to tell me that his counselors had given him a name for a calling and until then he had not been thinking about the name, didn't even ask, and had told his counselors that he was going to wait on it and do nothing. Apparently there was a vacancy in the Sunday School organization and it had to be filled. But if you remember I had not been to church for the full block in a while. Rather than being offended I laughed and dismissed it as though he would ask me later. NO, NO - he asked me right then. Apparently the talk I gave in Sacrament was enough to give him inspiration and call me to be a team teacher for the Gospel Doctrines class. Shocked and overwhelmed, I gladly accepted the role. It's nice to be needed, but if you are looking to be "calling-less" avoid the Tuesday night phone call; and laughing at your wife when she gets called to be a teacher.
The calling record is that Nersey and I have been 2nd counselors at the same time, and now we are both teachers. We pray nursery isn't next- one of us has to like kids enough to spend time with our little bundle on it's way.
